Table Hockey Games

Vintage table hockey games are another collectible that seems to be sought after more often all the time. People that have one in their possession quite often hear about the increasing value and now it is more common to see them up for sale on different classified sites. I have seen a few of them on Kijiji. I spent hours playing these games when i was a kid.

The Munro table hockey game above belonged to my father which he acquired in the 1950s

This Eagle table hockey game is another one that i have and i believe it is from the 1960s era.

1972 Summit Series

The 1972 summit series was one of the greatest sporting events in sports history in my opinion. I was fortunate enough to be able to see it. I do remember classes at school closing down and everyone going to the gym to crowd around a tv and watch the game. As Phil Esposito stated "it was like war" the cold war going on and all. Heritage Hockey has a really nice dvd set that they put out. 8 discs total 26 hours long. They sell it for $39.99 and it's well worth the money.

MIRACLE ON ICE
Another sporting event that went down in history and is talked about in great length even to this day. The Russians clearly the favourite to win, and the U.S. the underdog pulled off an amazing feat defeating the Soviets.

Labatts Mini Stanley Cups

These where insert into cases of Labatts Blue Beer around 1999-2000 i believe. I have 26 out of the 30 that makes up the set. You see these full sets going for more than $300. The single cups seem to be around  the $5-$10 range.

Little tip, keep these out of the direct sunlight or the logo stickers will fade. (turn brown)

Group 1 (1934-43) Group 2 (1944-64) Group 3 (1964-67) The company promotion of these photos lasted 33 years total.

1970-71 Esso Power Player Album

I have two of these. One is a hard cover edition with more info in the front part of the book about the league, pictures etc. As kids we used to go to the Esso gas station and get the stamps for these books. Our parents had to gas up first of course. I used to have a lot of extra stamps back then but i don't know where they all went? This was a 252 stamp set and was just a little change from collecting hockey cards back then.

Rare Hockey Cards In My Collection

These are two rare hockey cards that i have in my collection. The 1971-72 OPC Guy Lafleur and ken Dryden. I have had them since i was a kid and will probably hang on to them for a while. The Lafleur is in decent shape but the Dryden does have a crease from the top left corner to the bottom right.

The 1971-72 OPC are one of my favourite sets. Anybody else?

Pittsburgh Hornets vs Toronto Maple Leafs Program

One item in my collection is a 1955 exhibition game program between the Pittsburgh Hornets and the Toronto Maple Leafs at the Niagara Falls Memorial Arena. The Hornets were to later disband after the 1955-56 season.

There are a few Leaf signatures, Tim Horton is one. Harry Watson, Jim Thomson, Dave Creighton are among others.

Best Hockey Collectibles

Hard to determine what the best ice hockey collectibles are to collect. Everybody has their own preference. What someone collects is what thay have a passion for. Valuable items might be of little interest for someone who collects say mugs with team logos on them. I guess it would depend on weather you were buying for resale or for your own personal collection. That's my view on the hobby anyway.
